Gov. Nixon highlights Missouri Works; new legislation goes into effect today to continue economic growth in the Show-Me State

ST. LOUIS - Gov. Jay Nixon today visited with local business leaders and officials at Boeing to highlight Missouri Works, a comprehensive strategy to support economic growth and create career opportunities for Missourians. Missouri Works was included in House Bills 184 and 196, which go into effect today.

Chinese aviation IT company to open in Georgia

Gov. Nathan Deal announced today from Qingdao, China, that TravelSky Technology Limited will open a research and development center in Duluth to expand its work in the travel and tourism industries. The company is making a $10 million investment in Georgia and creating 50 jobs.


“Georgia is absolutely the right place for innovative technology companies like TravelSky to grow and find success,” said Deal.

Speaker: Success of Joplin Regional Prosperity Initiative is rare


While many organizations have tried to form groups to promote development on a multi-jurisdictional level, few have succeeded to the extent of the Joplin Regional Prosperity Initiative.

That was the assessment of Michael Conduff, of Denton, Texas, who on Wednesday addressed a gathering of elected officials and others from counties and communities involved in the regional initiative.

Report: 'Green' jobs up by 8% in Iowa

The Des Moines area’s trails, parks and other environmental offerings accounted for more than 5,200 “green” jobs in 2010, up 11 percent from 2003, according to a new analysis.

Statewide, the green jobs increased 8 percent in the same period, to 40,500.
