Missouri a top 10 state for job growth in 2013 with employers adding 43,900 jobs since January

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The latest jobs report showing that Missouri is a top 10 state for job growth in 2013 caps a successful year of strategic investments and strong economic growth, Gov. Jay Nixon said today. Missouri employers added 15,000 jobs in November, helping bring the state's unemployment rate down to 6.1 percent, its lowest point since August 2008.

New GLI report outlines strategies for five-year plan

The report is part of an effort to develop a regional economic development strategy and is a way for the area's leadership to explore strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges for the Louisville area, including Southern Indiana.

Fayette Visioning initiative gains momentum

Even though Thanksgiving was last month, we are especially thankful this month for the efforts of more than 225 diverse citizens who stepped up to serve Fayette County in a unique capacity.

They participated in a variety of activities to launch a process that will span the next six months to define a Fayette County vision and accompanying implementation plan.

Development partnership aims to blur Nebraska, Iowa boundaries

Communities on both sides of the Missouri River near Omaha are on the verge of a unique economic development effort that would span boundaries and benefit both states.

The Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership would add members from Iowa to market communities, encourage entrepreneurs, help existing businesses grow and recruit new employers.

Regional, Downtown Studies To Provide Rogers, Area Leaders With Growth Information

ROGERS — A strategic study laying out the steps needed for continued growth of the Rogers-Lowell area and a development study to help city officials expand and improve downtown Rogers are different in scope, yet officials said the two will parallel and complement one another.

Both studies are to begin in January and be completed in July.
